The practice of treating root canals is known as Endontics. Perfect Teeth Dental has treated many patients for root canals and here explains the process.
WHAT IS ENDODONTICS?
Endodontic treatment, commonly known as a dental root canal procedure, is a process that involves removing the infected pulp from the tooth and replacing it with a filling material. This treatment is typically performed when the pulp of the tooth becomes infected or inflamed, often as a result of tooth decay or trauma. If left untreated, this can lead to a painful abscess and even tooth loss. At our clinic, we specialize in providing high-quality endodontic treatment to help our patients restore their oral health and maintain their beautiful smiles.
Our dentists are committed to ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care during their endodontic treatment. We utilize the latest technology and techniques to ensure that our procedures are as efficient and comfortable as possible. We understand that many people are nervous about undergoing a root canal, which is why we take the time to explain the process in detail and answer any questions that our patients may have.
During your endodontic treatment, our dentists will start by numbing the area around the affected tooth. Once you are comfortable, we will make a small hole in the top of the tooth to access the infected pulp. We will then use specialized instruments to remove the pulp and clean out the inside of the tooth. After the tooth has been thoroughly cleaned, we will fill it with a special material and seal it off to prevent further infection. In some cases, we may also recommend adding a dental crown or other restoration to help protect the tooth and prevent future damage.
At Perfect Teeth Dental, we believe that everyone deserves to have access to affordable, high-quality dental care. That’s why we work with our patients to create customized treatment plans that fit their unique needs and budgets. We offer flexible payment options, including financing options, to help make endodontic treatment more accessible to our patients.

ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
A second chance to save your tooth.
With proper care, most teeth that have had endodontic (root canal) treatment can last as along as other natural teeth. In some cases, however, a tooth that has received endodontic treatment fails to heal or the pain continues. Occasionally, the tooth becomes painful or diseased months or even years after successful treatment. If your tooth has failed to heal or has developed new problems, you have a second chance. Another endodontic procedure may be able to save your tooth.
As may happen with any dental procedure, a tooth may not heal as expected, due to one or more of the following:
- Narrow or curved canals were not treated during the initial procedure.
- Complicated canal anatomy went undetected in the first procedure.
- The crown or other restoration was not placed soon enough after the procedure.
- The restoration did not prevent saliva from contaminating the inside of the tooth.
In some instances another problem with that tooth could cause the need for the retreatment of a root canal. In some instances new decay could expose the root canal filling material to bacteria thus causing a new infection. Also loose, cracked or a broken crown or filling could also expose the tooth to a new infection.
